Bakeri Baltzersen is a newly established bakery with a growing presence around Leeds and further afield. The parent company Baltzersen’s opened a cafe in the center of the beautiful spa town Harrogate in 2012 to pair Yorkshire ingredients with some Scandinavian inspiration. True to its Scandi roots, the business is named for the owner’s Norwegian Grandma Liv Baltzersen.
Baltzersen’s are best known for their cinnamon buns but with the opening of Bakeri Baltzersen they soon began to bake a much wider range of products including breads, brioche buns and sourdough. The techniques they use heavily lean on the traditional hand skills of the bakers with everything hand shaped and moulded.
Quality is a cornerstone of their offer with ingredients including organic flour from Shipton Mill, excellent dark chocolate from Valhrona and exclusively French butter for viennoiserie products. They also use free-range eggs from Ian Taylor eggs up the road in Burton Leonard and organic milk from Acorn Dairy both of which we also will be stocking at Leeds Skelton Lake.
At Sourced Market Leeds Skelton Lake we are excited to be stocking white sourdough and flavoured sourdough with flavours changing weekly, brioche buns, cruffins (combination of a muffin and a croissant), ciabatta as well as white and multigrain bloomer bread in our bakery section.
