Harriot Pleydell-Bouverie started her marshmallow company on a budget of £250. We were the first retailer to snap up her products – and now she supplies to more than 2,000 stores nationwide.

We’ve a bit of a soft spot for Mallow and Marsh. With their creamy, nougaty texture, these melt-in-the-mouth squares are a grown-up twist on a childhood favourite.

When Harriot approached us in 2013, we didn’t know what to expect. Would there be enough of an appetite for gourmet marshmallows? We trialled the product for a couple of weeks and – as we’d all hoped – the answer was yes.

Harriot’s marshmallows are naturally low in fat and entirely free of additives and preservatives. She produces the sweets from a traditional confectionary kitchen using 100% natural ingredients that include organic and Fairtrade vanilla extract, real coffee beans, fresh raspberries and hand-roasted coconut.

What happened next

Since we met Harriot, the young entrepreneur has rejected an offer on Dragons’ Den, accepted a deal with Sainsbury’s and developed her product into an established brand. She now produces more than a tonne of marshmallows in an average week!

As her first stockists, we’re actively involved in helping Harriot test out new flavours and products. Gone are the days when your marshmallow options were either the ‘pink’ or the ‘white’…

Sourced Market is more than just a retailer for us. The team there have become great friends, and ambassadors for our brand. They’re hugely knowledgeable about the industry and are great at providing feedback, helping us to develop and improve.

We genuinely wouldn’t be where we are today without the support and enthusiasm of the Sourced Market team.
