Having walked the Jurassic Coast one summer Olly found that he needed a bar that kept him going for a few hours, which could sustain him between meals, without experiencing a sugar crash.
Nothing he trialled really worked for intensive exercise. Olly started experimenting with natural ingredients to create a bar that really did what it said on the packet and tasted amazing. He knew that it had to be gluten free, easily digestible, made of only fruit sugars for a low GI and contain complex carbohydrates. They also needed to be high in fibre and natural proteins for slow release energy from the get go. Ollybars are a balanced combination of macro proteins, carbs, fats and fibre made from raw ingredients like apples, almonds, chia seeds, flax, sunflower seeds, brazil nuts, raspberries, apricots, raisins, dates, peanuts and cocoa butter.
Ollybars ethos is pioneering with integrity; they want their products to be good for people and the planet. Ollybars use completely natural ingredients, no additives, emulsifiers or preservatives. Ollybars want to go for 100% bio packaging. This is a hard formula to find, most bio compostable packaging doesn’t include bio-inks. It’s also a case of economy versus environment, but now that Ollybars are manufacturing enough product to reduce the price and have found a company that uses bio-inks, they are looking to change over to bio packaging within the next year. Watch this space.
